In this dramatic account of an almost forgotten chapter of American history, Sally Jenkins and John Stauffer upend the traditional myth of the Confederacy as a heroic and unified Lost Cause, revealing the fractures within the South. I originally purchased this book to learn more about the time period and the events which took place. I won't do a detailed description of the book because that's what blurbs are for, but I'll just say that I couldn't put this down, and I can't WAIT for the sequel. Loved it and finished it in ONE day.
